Our pastor, Daniel Corbett began his ministry with us on February 14, 1982. In February of 2007 our church surprised him with a social event commemorating his 25 years of service here at the church. He and his wife Gaylene have three children.
Pastor Corbett graduated from Faith Baptist Bible College (now Faith Baptist Bible College and Theological Seminary) in 1979 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. He majored in Theology and minored in Bible. Pastor Corbett has pursued graduate studies at Northwest Baptist Seminary and Luther Rice Seminary. Our Pastor has also taken studies with the University of Alaska at Fairbanks. Pastor Corbett participated in a pastoral internship program during the last two summers of his college years. Emmanuel Baptist Church of Flint, Michigan and the late Dr. Harold E. Garland sponsored the internship. Pastor Corbett also served on the pastoral staff of Urbandale Baptist Church of Urbandale, Iowa and Galilee Baptist Church now located in Kent, Washington before assuming the pastorate of the First Baptist Church of South Whidbey. Pastor Corbett has had several articles published in various magazines.
Our pastor writes: "I believe it is the duty of the Christian minister to seek to improve his expositional abilities so that he might present the word of God as clearly and properly as possible. The years have taught me that there are always deeper and sweeter truths in God's word that await the patient preacher."
